Iceland partners with Kristin Eysteinsdottir and Valdis Arnardottir for a promising International Pairs Iceland Experience.
The International Pairs tournaments in Iceland are planning to go on full blast in 2021 after a humble start during a difficult Covid-19 period in 2020. The team from Iceland are planning 6 qualifying tournaments in the upcoming summer and a final competition at the end of August, hosted at the beautiful Kidjaberg golf course in the south of Iceland.
With 4 qualifying tournaments completed to date, the competitors are getting excited about getting their hands on the exquisite World Finals in Portugal!
The new licensees have high hopes that the International Pairs tournaments will draw quite a lot of attention. But who are those two ladies?
Kristin stumbled across this opportunity when Arni Arnason needed a helping hand in facilitating the event in Iceland. Having held various positions in the private corporate sector in Iceland for 25 years and the last 13 at Icelandair, the country‘s leading airline, Kristin decided it was time to venture into new opportunities. “Golf has taken up a lot of space in my life in past years, first following my daughter to competitions in Iceland and later taking my own golf very seriously. I am also a member of the board of directors of Reykjavik Golfclub. Therefore pursuing projects involving golf was a reasonable next step“
Valdís runs a travel company in Iceland and has been working in the banking/financial services for more than 10 years. Valdís has spent most of her business career in marketing and public relations. “In my career I have been planning events so I thought it would be fun to combine the work experience to my hobby. I sometimes say I have been a beginner in golf for the last 20 years as I´ve never played more than 10 rounds a year. But since 2019 I have been concentrating more on golf and it‘s fun to be social at the same time as playing golf. Last year I noticed an advert about the competition for the International Pairs in Iceland and asked Kristin if we should participate. We didn‘t take action then but when Kristin approached with this great idea it was a no brainer.“
The new licensees are looking forward to introducing International Pairs’ unique concept to golfers across Iceland and bringing fresh winds into the Icelandic golf scene. The amateur golf scene in Iceland has been somewhat traditional with most tournaments being played as Stableford or Texas Scramble. Offering this type of a tournament and the amazing prize of going to Portugal to play among other avid golfers from around the world is bound to be a success, the ladies say !
